Tournament Info

DDR MAX 2 Tournament
November 23rd, 2002

Boomtown Casino
3008 Peters Rd.
Harvey, LA 70058
(504) 366-7711
Time: 1:00 PM
(The arcade is located on the second floor of the main building, entirely away from all of the gambling devices.)

Registration opens at 11:30 and closes at 1:00. There are 32 slots open. If there are more than 32 participants, then a qualifying match will be held. In this round, all participants will play one song. Qualification is chosen by the 32 participants who make the highest number of perfect after the song. Should there be need for a qualifying round, the song title will be kept secret till that time period. Qualifying round begins at 12:30.

General Overview

The tournament will be held on a DDR MAX 2 (Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix) machine.
It will be a double elimination tournament, based on the number of perfects each player has obtained over the course of three songs. The 2 opposing players will either choose to play 3 songs (with the third song being chosen at random/using roulette by a third party) or, if they desire, may choose an Oni course to play.

Whether two players wish to do an Oni course or three songs normally is up to them. Both must decide upon their course of action before they go up to play. This is done in order for nobody to say that the timer ran out before a song or course could be chosen.

In the event of a tie, both players must then go in to Oni mode. The course will be decided upon randomly, thus making this round sudden death. Should this happen, the expenses will come from the tournament director. Same rules apply to failure. If both players fail a song, both must also play a random Oni Course as their official match. However, do not use this option as a strategy, for those doing so will be disqualified from the tournament and the opponent advances.

Progression

As usual around here, the tournament will progress as follows:

  • First round will be on Light mode
  • Second round will be on Standard mode
  • Third round will be held on Heavy mode
  • All remaining rounds will also be held on Heavy mode

The winners of each round will face each other, while the losers do the same. The winner of the losers bracket will go back in to the winners bracket when all others in the bracket have lost twice. Once a player has lost twice, he or she will be removed from the tournament.

Modifier Rules

  • All speed modifiers will be allowed in the tournament. However, it is recommended that you not choose 8x, because it is likely that you will not be able to read.

  • Boost, Reverse, and Dark will be allowed.

  • Solo arrows, sudden, stealth, hidden, and shuffle will not be allowed.

  • Freeze arrows must be left on.

It is expected that if you turn a modifier on, you will accept responsibility for it. Those running the tournament will not accept any excuses, for it was your decision to put such modifiers on, thus giving you a possible disadvantage.

Miscellaneous

Included with the entry fee of $7.00 is free pizza and drinks for all players. It is as of yet undecided how much each player will be allotted.

Please direct any and all questions to us at the message board (Link found to left) or to either of those running the tournament (Contact info found to the left.)

Thanks, and we hope to see you there!
